According to Dirks  Mueller and Houts, Halloween is “a uniquely constructive space for engaging racial concepts and identities, particularly through ritual costuming.” Above is a picture of a costume I found at a Halloween store, which features a costume mimicking a traditional Indian sari, but in a “slutty” form. Females can buy this costume and play with the idea of being a different race. Is this racist, or okay because Halloween is a holiday?
